How much is the WA solar battery rebate in 2026?
The WA Residential Battery Scheme pays up to $1,300 for Synergy customers ($130 a usable kWh on up to 10 kWh) and up to $3,800 for Horizon Power customers ($380 a kWh), and you have to join a virtual power plant to get it (WA Government).
It stacks with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, about $2,500 on a 10 kWh battery installed by 31 December 2026, so a Synergy customer is looking at about $3,800 off a 10 kWh battery in total. Checked 1 October 2026.
Every battery incentive in WA, with its source.
| Program | Amount | Conditions | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| WA Residential Battery Scheme (Synergy customers) | up to $1,300 | $130 a usable kWh on up to 10 kWh. New, VPP-capable battery on the supported list, installed by an approved installer, and you join an eligible VPP. | wa.gov.au |
| WA Residential Battery Scheme (Horizon Power customers) | up to $3,800 | $380 a usable kWh on up to 10 kWh. Same conditions; the VPP has to be a Horizon Power product. | wa.gov.au |
| WA Residential Battery Scheme no-interest loan | up to $10,000 | Gross household income under $210,000. Covers the battery and, when installed with it, solar panels or an inverter. Repaid over up to 10 years. | wa.gov.au |
| Federal: Cheaper Home Batteries discount | about $252 a usable kWh on the first 14 kWh | Claimed by the installer as certificates and taken off the invoice. 6.8 certificates a kWh to 31 December 2026, then 5.7 from 1 January 2027. Tapers to 60% from 14 to 28 kWh and 15% from 28 to 50 kWh. No income or property test. | cer.gov.au |
| Federal: solar certificates (STCs), Perth and the south-west | about $1,650 on 6.6 kW | Zone 3 rating 1.382: 45 certificates on a 6.6 kW system installed in 2026, 36 from 1 January 2027. Taken off the quote by the installer. | cer.gov.au |
WA's own page quotes combined discounts of up to $5,000 (Synergy) and $7,500 (Horizon) on a 10 kWh battery. Those use the federal factor from when the scheme opened; at today's factor of 6.8 and $37 a certificate the federal part is about $2,500, so the combined figure is closer to $3,800 and $6,300.

Synergy and Horizon Power columns add the WA rebate to the federal discount for an install by 31 December 2026.

Who is eligible for the WA battery rebate?
- A Synergy or Horizon Power residential customer.
- A new battery that can join a virtual power plant and is on the scheme's supported list for your area.
- Installed by an installer in the scheme's approved vendor directory.
- You sign up to an eligible VPP: a Synergy or approved VPP for Synergy customers, a Horizon Power VPP for Horizon customers.
- For the loan, gross household income under $210,000.
Is the WA battery rebate ending?
The WA scheme hasn't published an end date as at 1 October 2026. The federal part steps down on 1 January 2027 (6.8 to 5.7 certificates a kWh), so a 10 kWh battery installed in January gets about $400 less federal discount than one installed in December.

What does a 10 kWh battery cost in Perth after the rebate?
